Expert training for healthcare, with emphasis on the diagnostic laboratory.
This lesson covers the creation and use of a Run Chart. The run chart is a tool for assessing process performance over time. Using the data, a team can see if action is required, and if so, what type of action is the best response.
The Run Chart is a visual tool, plotting data points over time in a way that demonstrates the type of variation the process exhibits. Understanding process variation allows improvement teams to assess whether or not action is needed, and if it is needed, which kind of action is the best response to the signal from the data. Without this information, any action has a good change of causing further errors and thus, poor process performance.
